About the Counsellor

Sharon Bermudez, MFT, EMBA, MPC, CEAP

Sharon Bermudez was awarded a master of science degree in marital and family therapy by Northwestern University in 1998. She also holds a master of pastoral counselling conferred by the Graduate Theological Foundation in 2019. Sharon received her master of business administration degree from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine in 2005. She has held a certified employee assistance professional (CEAP) designation by the EAP Association since 2017.

She has been providing employee assistance programme (EAP) services to organisations drawn from all major economic sectors and government ministries for more than 20 years. Aside from her specialisations as a marital and family therapist and Catholic pastoral counsellor, Sharon’s extensive EAP background  has positioned her as a counsellor who can provide support on a wide range of mental/emotional issues and trigger events arising from school-related, work-related, and overall relationship problems. Sharon has worked closely with men, women, and teenagers to achieve emotional and mental freedom and identify healthy, functional life spaces that will lead to personal and professional satisfaction and well-being. She works with clients to identify workable solutions that will help them to create positive changes in their situation and/or environment and improve their personal resilience.

Sharon is also certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation to provide critical incident stress management (CISM) interventions in a wide range of trauma situations. With more than 15 years of experience in this area, Sharon can respond to individuals, families and organisations in crisis to accelerate their recovery from the unexpected, traumatic death of loved ones due to vehicular and workplace accidents; suicide; murder/suicide; homicide and those whose life was threatened through crime, accidents and natural disasters.

She provides training at all levels of work organisations on a wide range of personal and organisational issues that impact employee wellbeing and the success of the organisation.

Sharon will provide compassionate care and create a life-giving therapeutic space — a looking point — that allows her clients to identify and replace dysfunctional patterns and choices with functional ones that help them restore or build their resilience and achieve their dignity as a whole person. She will serve as a guide, a cheerleader, a boot camp master, a teacher, along the way to achieve this goal. Sharon will wear many hats, all for one common purpose, to be a positive change agent in the life of her clients, the life of their family and the wellbeing of your organisations.
